The Early Years department includes all the children in the Nursery and Reception classes. The curriculum for this stage is highly important because it underpins all future learning. The main areas of learning are: 1) Personal, Social and Emotional Development
2) Communication, Language and Literacy: Speaking and Listening Reading Writing
3) Mathemathics development
4) Knowledge and Understanding of the World
5) Physical Development
6) Creative Development
We believe that young children learn best when they enjoy what they are doing and are challenged. Well-planned play, both indoors and outdoors, is key to a successful Early Years environment. Our classrooms are well equipped, with many colourful displays of children's work. The learning environment is designed to be rich and stimulating, so that children feel happy to come to school and enjoy their learning experience.
Two members of staff, a British qualified teacher and a classroom assistant, work as a team in each Early Years classroom to ensure that the children receive constant care and attention. However, an important aspect of our Early Years education is that we encourage children to become independent from a very young age. This helps them to develop a sense of responsibility and self respect. |
