Understanding our society, in respect to its organisation and function throughout history and nowadays, has always been part of our educational tradition and a fundamental part of the education of young people.

As a subject, Sociales in secondary schools aims to deepen pupil understanding , following on from the “Conocimiento del medio” classes they took whilst in Primary.  The development of pupil understanding at this stage aims to focus more closely on the core subjects of Geography and History.  Both subjects are key to ensuring pupils think about the reality of human and social existence from a global perspective and give them a greater capacity to understand social sciences.

The teaching of this subject ensures that pupils acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to understand the reality of the past, present and future of Spain and the world in which they live.
