Introduction and Aims In Year 12 students work towards the EDEXCEL AS/A2 in Applied ICT. This is a fully accredited A-Level course couting towards students' UCAS points for entry into British Universities at the end of Year 13. The Edexcel GCE in Applied ICT has been developed to provide a broad educational basis for further training, further education or for moving into appropriate employment within the ICT sector. They have been designed to be delivered in a work-related context and to allow learners to develop an understanding of the ICT sector Students will receive 7 periods of formal teaching per week but will also need to undertake additional study and develop their e-portfolios which should count for at least a further 5-6 hours per week in school and an additional 5-6 hours a week at home.

Assessment Information The AS course is externally assessed by EDEXCEL. Students will be expected to complete projects of at least 60 hours each in Terms 1 and 2. This coursework will be internally moderated and sent to EDEXCEL for marking. Students must also sit a 2hr assessment for Unit 3 Other Information Learners who would most benefit fom a GCE in Applied ICT are likely to have: IGCSE in ICT (Grades A*-C) AND 5 IGCSEs at grade A*-C |
