Introduction and Aims

  • To develop the ability to understand Spanish from a variety of registers.
  • To enable the pupil to communicate confidently and clearly in Spanish.
  • To form a sound base of skills, language and attitudes required for further study, work and leisure.
  • To develop insights into the culture and civilisation of Spanish speaking countries.
  • To encourage positive attitudes to language learning and a sympathetic approach to other cultures and civilisations.
  • To further intellectual and personal development by promoting learning and social skills.

Assessment Information

  • Pupils will be continually assessed in writing workshops, translation tasks and periodical vocabulary tests.
  • Pupils assessed one to one for speaking component
  • Final exam

Other Information

The new Edexcel syllaus requires pupils to undertake their own research in two areas.  Research for their chosen topic for unit 4 Research, Understanding and Written Response and also unit 3 Understanding and Spoken Response where they will take a clear stance on any issue agreed with the class teacher.
